Product Description
For hikers who demand excellence and durability at an affordable price, the Red Cloud delivers. A large pack, you'll still find it easy to load with the top loading design and sleeping bag compartment; however, you won't have any issues finding what you need with the front-panel access and zippered side pockets. The lid of the pack also converts into a lumbar pack, which saves you weight by not having to carry an extra day pack. Hydration and snacks won't be an issue either with its hydration compatible design and hip belt pockets for small items. The Red Cloud is designed to be fully adjustable to fit your torso length and carry a heavy load, providing unmatched stability and comfort on the trail which results in a trusted pack for all your expeditions. The Light Beam(tm) dual aluminum stays are connected to the hip belt providing direct load transfer while the Anti-barreling stays keep the scapula pad flat-even if the pack is overloaded. The HDPE-reinforced, dual density waist belt improves load-support and enhances overall carrying comfort as well while the dual positions for load-lifters straps keeps the pack weight from shifting. Finally, the AirMesh shoulder straps, waist belt, and lumbar pad are designed to keep air moving through and keep you comfortable all day. Hip belt can be removed.. Body Fabric: 420D Polyester Ball Shadow. Reinforcement Fabric: 450D Polyester Oxford. Suspension: Cloud lock II(tm) Adjustable Suspension.

Very poor waist belt and shoulder straps
By Mark Alexander
Bought this pack to replace a 25 year old Jansport. Pack is great, but the waist belt will not stay tight. Problem is worse when it is raining out. e-mailed Kelty about this problem, but they never replied. Pack is almost unusable because the waist belt loosens up after only a few steps. All the weight must be carried by the shoulder straps. Pack needs a cam lock buckle like the old Kelty packs. Have seen several postings on forums about this problem. No fix that I know of.Updated12/20/11After getting new aftermarket buckles from Kelly that were the wrong size, I cleaned the belt and buckles with hot soapy water and dried with a hair dryer. In tests here home, the belt has stayed slip free so far. Still not sure what got on the belt to caused this problem in the first place. The waist belt slipped on the first trip out with the backpack, but only after it rained. With that problem solved, I can spend the winter custom bending the stays, for a perfect fit. I ordered two more packs just like the first one. Only in different colors.Updated 8/26/12Just got back from a one week stay in the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming. We had three identical Kelty Red Cloud 110 packs. All three packs performed very poorly. All three packs weighed in at about 53 lb each. All three suffered from the same problem. The straps will not stay tight. Pack will not stay on your hips. Shoulder straps loosen up. The waist belt buckle on my pack released by itself, almost causing me to fall when the pack suddenly swung sideways. The mesh water bottle pocket tear very easily. One of the compression strap buckles broke on my sons pack in cold weather in the mountains. This is the poorest pack I have ever owned in my 35 years of backpacking. All three packs will be replaced with a different kind before next season.Update 10/11/12: Kelty contacted me about the problems we had with our packs. They said some of the Kelty redcloud 110 packs had been manufactured with defective buckles. April said she would replace the three packs. We have only used the new packs once, and so far so good. You can't go wrong with a Kelty pack. Starting next spring the three packs will be put through there paces. Thank You April W for your help.

Water Bottle?
By Bruce Green
I have a red cloud st 5000 that holds quite a bit, but needed a little bit larger pack. I bought the red cloud 110 and it seems to be just right. But, with one exception. I cannot fit my water bottles in the mesh pockets on the side like every other pack I have had. The genious at Kelty was out the day of manufacturing and someone decided to put a stitch down the middle of both mesh pockets. So now, you are pretty much limited to a small bladder in the main pack. Not sure what they thought those pockets would actually be used for. You can fit a small flashlight in one side maybe. I would not buy this pack again. I have a feeling as I use this pack, I will find more annoying design problems with it.

Lees Summit
By Brad A. Lane
I bought two of these 110 redcloud backpacks since i liked the earlier models. I already had a redcloud 6650 and a 4750 kelty backpack that I was pleased with. I do like the way they have improved the waist cincing in this model. The cloud lock is also an improvement that allows for easy quick adjustments to the torso height. It was very comfortable with 50Lbs over three days.
