Greatest men's scent..but way too weak

I've enjoyed this cologne for several years now, it gets a lot of compliments from women and men, but why CD makes it so "subtle" to the point of completely disappearing amounts to a ripoff when you consider the expense. Getting caught in a light rain might fire it up a little, but (for me) all traces of it are gone in a couple of hours.

Confused

I tested an edt sample from TPC. I love the wet, green opening in this, but it heads straight for business in about 10 minutes ... and that business is patchouli with just a bit of cinnamon & spice. It's quite likable but not what I was expecting from such a revered classic. It would probably wear much better on me in the dead of winter than in the heat of summer.I bought a half bottle from e*bay, and it is a completely different fragrance. It is not a patchouli-based fragrance. Instead, it is an oakmoss-based one, and I don't like it all. Chypre with a capital C.This fragrance has two formulations, that is clear to me. I like the first one I tested, and I despise the second. Not even the same fragrances.Confused.

So glad I could find my favorite scent here; it's difficult to locate in stores now. Great blend, subtle, and goes from work to evening effortlessly. Enhances one's own scent rather than covering it up and making you smell like everyone else.

This is a cologne that I love, but the bottle I received must be VERY old. The wrapper was "crisp", and the glue on the seal dried out enough that it was falling off. The contents smell like they have been on the shelf for years. I was very disappointed.

the absolute best fragrance that you can get for a man

I have used Egoiste Platinum faithfully for the last twelve years-it's the only fragrance I wear, and it's on me every day: in fact, if you can't smell the cologne, there's a very good chance that I didn't shower that day.... I used to wear a number of fragrances, but they never quite did it for me. And why does Egoiste Platinum work? Well, its opening scents are on the fruity, citrusy, light and dainty side; yet underneath it all, you have this strong sandalwood flavor, with just a dash of cedar. So it's intricate but it's not flimsy-it's certainly not the men's version of Chanel No. 5. And it's not brash either-people will not think that you're wearing way too much aftershave. With this fragrance, Chanel seems to have hit the nail right on the head, and given men a cologne that doesn't smell delicate, but which doesn't smell raw either.A lot of information that I've seen on the Internet suggests that Egoiste Platinum is a good day time scent. I would suggest that it works just as well at night too. And to the extent that you really should just stick to one fragrance at a time, this one is thoroughly appropriate. So, if you are looking for a fragrance that will get attention, and have random women asking "what are you wearing?", this'll do. And if you just want a scent that reflects how complex you are, how chromatic you are, hands down, Egoiste Platinum will do the trick.

Very Sophisticated!

I wear this cologne for the office and I absolutelty love it. I have been wearing it for almost decade and I have received numerous compliments. It is definately a scent sophistication. I spray this one me several times in the morning and it wakes you up and gets you going so you can conquer the day! This scent is for a man with character and who knows what he wants out of life and goes out and gets it. My wife loves this one on me. I highly recommend this for office wear. Go get some!

High-Quality Men's Cologne Still Holds Up After 40 Years

I began using Caron Pour Homme around 1970 and from what my nostrils (and those around me) tell me is that its scent has not changed substantially since then (more than 40 years). The shape of the container is different than it was in '70, but the contents smell the same: a heady mixture of lavender, vanilla, and patchouli (very light on this one). The scent lasts moderately long, but I would prefer that it lasted longer (not necessarily stronger). If you have any doubts, and when facing a new fragrance I always have them!, I would give it a "test drive" at a large department store (Nordstroms, Macy's, etc.) and leave it on for 5+ hours. Then see if you are still happy with it (I've always been). Good luck and happy sniffing! :-))

a little dissapointed

My father has been wearing pour un homme for years and was very excited when I told him Amazon carried this product. While the cologne arrived authentically packaged, it's scent was extremely weak compared to what it normally smells like. I suspect this bottle was a little on the old side and that is why it's potency was questionnable.

This perfume is very hard to find

My daughter came across Carolina Herrera's perfume, Carolina, at an outlet store a few years back. It is the perfect fragrance for her, light, but definitely noticeable. It has become harder and harder to find this fragrance so I was extremely happy to find it at Amazon.com and my daughter was surprised I found it.

Poor performance

This perfume was ordered as a present for my wife. When it came in, in timely fashion, she was pleased.When she opened the bottle and put it on--there was no smell after 10 minutes.She wore it for a second time with the same result!When i cointacted the vendor I was ignored.Amazon explained the policy was of no return if the bottle was opened. How do you wear perfume or cologne without using it?Amazon was very ngood about my problem, but the vendor was not.Suggestion--do not buy from this vendor--they are unreliable and violate the cannons of good business.
