5These mini string lights are a bright example of a good deal!
By F. M. Langner
My wife loves "little lights in the trees" -- so our back yard has plenty of them. Now we've just built a gazebo and landscaped more of our land. With additional trees, the gazebo, and lots of decorative shrubs, I'll be buying and hooking up more of them. My wife is delighted with the look, and I'm delighted with the fact that all the light strings work flawlessly!

5Super nice heater for Popup Campers, Travel Trailers, and RV's
By T. Miller
I purchased the Olympian Wave 6 Catalytic Heater during the summer of 2007, for use in our 1987 Starcraft Nova Popup Camper. The camper has an 11' box, so it's a fairly large camper when opened up. I had already installed an OEM Duo-Therm forced air furnace. It worked great, but the blower fan in these forced air furnaces are noisy, use alot of 12 volt battery power, and the furnaces use quite a bit of propane. Every time that furnace turned on, it would wake us up. Then we'd lay there listening to the blower run for 10-15min. When it finally shut off, instead of being able to go back to sleep, we'd still be awake, anticipating the next cycle. The Wave 6 Heater is an amazing heat source and fits the use in this camper perfectly. I purchased the feet for it, as well as the available protective cover for storage (I highly recommend you buy the cover because you must keep the platinum catalytic mat clean). I had a 10' flexible rubber propane hose made and T'd that into the existing fitting under the fold down sink cabinet. A small brass ball valve is located at the T in order to turn off/on propane flow into the flexible hose to the heater. At the other end of the 10' hose is a propane quick coupler (purchased from [...] ) and this allows the hose to quickly be "snapped" on to the male fitting that I installed on the heater. A quick note about these propane quick couplers. There are several versions made; a low pressure and a high pressure. The Wave heaters use your low pressure system in your camper/RV/MH/TT/5er, but you can use either the low pressure quick coupler set up, or the high pressure. Some campers/RV's/etc. use these quick couplers from the factory, so if you're having trouble matching an existing coupler, it may be because you're trying to mate a low pressure with a high pressure, or vise-versa. Call the folks at mbsturgis and they can help. When not in use, the heater stowes under the dinette seat. It takes just a few minutes to get the heater out before going to bed, and set it up. Per the manufacturer's instructions, I open the roof vent about 1/2", and the lower panel of the screen door the same amount. Sometimes I'll unzip just a few inches of the upper corner, of the side bunk windows, but not always. We never have a condensation problem. The heater lights quickly and in about 5-10min. is fully "cooking." Set on medium, it will keep the camper 71*F inside at an outside tempurature of 51*F. I leave it run all night and it keeps us toasty warm.A word of advice on using heaters in campers; do your homework if you're worried about carbon monoxide poisoning. By that, I mean call the manufacturer and get your information straight from their technical support, or even their engineers. That way, you have actual data, instead of all the story telling that is so common on many RV website forums.Bottom line: This is an outstanding product that's extremely well designed and built. It's easy to use, super efficient, quiet, and just cranks out the heat!UPDATE: Dec 2012We're still using the Wave 6 heater after 6 seasons. Still love the thing. It still runs all night long, while we sleep. I wound up making "thumb screws" that allow me to take the feet on and off faster. I install the feet at the beginning of each camp trip, and take them off on the final day of the trip, and the heater just sits out of the way on the counter during the day. The thumb screws are just 5mm allen head "bolts" that I threaded into 5mm wing nuts. I tightend the allen head bolts really tight into the wing nuts, so the wing nuts make it easy to spin the bolts through the legs and up into the heater's threaded lugs. Hope that makes sense. To give an idea of how little propane these heaters use, we had an 8 day camp trip this year, and only used 3.8 gallons of propane. That included about 10 days of running the refrigerator, and 8 days of cooking 2 meals per day on the 3 burner carry-out stove, and using the Wave 6 from about 8pm each night, until around 6am the next morning.

5Efficient, Silent, and well-made
By lb311
My little travel trailer came without an LP Furnace. I originally thought this would be a huge drawback and prevent me from dry camping...until I discovered the Olympian Wave 3! What a fantastic little unit! It's every bit as powerful as a forced air 12000BTU LP furnace, however it has some big advantages-- 1. it's completely silent. No loud blower motors to wake you up every time they turn on; 2. it doesn't require any battery power (an LP furnace won't run if your battery dies); 3. it's smaller, lighter, and portable than an LP furnace; and 4. With a hose and leg accessories, you can move the heater around to wherever you need it.The only disadvantage is that there's no thermostat control-- you only have two heat settings (low and high) that stay on as long as the unit is on. But since it's more consistent radiant heat, once it warms the interior, you can maintain a consistent temp inside by just adjusting your windows or roof vent.Unlike cheaper catalytic heaters such as the "buddy" series or the Coleman "cats", this one uses much less LP per hour (since it uses low pressure LP rather than high). It also works in higher elevations (where the others can't operate above 5000 feet or so).Highly recommended product that will last you for years!

1Dust problem
By Beady Gal
We bought this heater for our travel trailer. We enjoy "dry camping" (no power or water) in the the desert during the winter and needed a heat source that does not run down our batteries. The heater is ideal from that respect. It does not require a blower and it does not use power to control the flame. It worked well for us at first. After a month or so of regular use we noticed that it started to smell and then our carbon monoxide detector alarm sounded in the middle of the night warning of carbon monoxide levels high enough to kill. (Wouldn't you know it, it was the coldest night we ever experienced in the desert, -18 degrees!!)Camping often means dusty conditions. It is not stated in the on-line specifications or mentioned in the reviews or in the manufactures description that this heater is not suitable for dusty conditions. Only by careful reading of the operation manual can this be discovered. We went ahead and installed the heater hoping that we could keep the dust down. Although we thought we were being careful by keeping it covered when not in use and practiced good housekeeping, the heater failed because the catalyst got "poisoned". Once it failed we found that the warranty does not cover catalyst poisoning and it was too late to return it. We now have a heater that we cannot use because of high carbon monoxide levels.Be aware that this heater can be deadly. In a dust-free environment the heater will probably give years of use, but if you plan to use this heater, or any catalytic heater for camping, be aware of the limitations, check the operation manual before you buy it and use a CO detector.

4Decent buy, if purchased at a good price
By I. Seligman
I purchased this tumbler new in box. It's simple construction, a red metal base with a small motor attached by clear round plastic belt to one of two rollers, and a separate rubber tumbling container and its plastic top. Before you use it, go buy SAE 20 electric motor oil, per the manufacturer, at say, an Ace Hardware or Lowe's, and lightly lubricate the two top holes on the motor, and the roller contacts/bearings. Open the rubber drum by removing the metal band, then squeeze the drum's belly to make the white plastic "top" pop out, and pry it out with just your hands, with some twisting and "encouragement." Put in your thumb sized minerals, grit or polishing materials, and fill the drum 2/3 to 3/4 of the way full, then plug it in, and let it go. It's that easy.Pro--cheap if you get a good price on Amazon or wherever-discounts abound for many things...-Economical-the small motor runs for weeks with each load. Older models have tumbled for decades, if kept oiled, belts changed, and not overloaded_Pretty fire engine red color.Cons--All tumblers tumbling are noisy; I've not listened to that many to tell whose is quieter-This "walks"" around if placed on a flat polished granite surface or even a flat linoleum floor, so "box it in" or put it on a rubber pad, as mine walked 6" in fifteen minutes, and almost fell off my counter!-My tumbler is very much off balance or off level, in that the rubber drum quickly moves way to the motor's side, and I need to "shim" up that side to even out the wear-Not as solidly constructed as Lortone or others, and less expensive. You get what you pay for.-Plastic top may wear from abrasion in a few years of heavy use, just put a round truck's rubber tire patch on its inside when you get the tumbler, and it's protected for decades!FYI-While these are made for tumbling rocks/minerals, they do a great job on marinating steaks, in a pinch! Put the steak and marinade in a freezer baggie with a sized good air pocket, seal it, and let it tumble for 20-40 minutes. You get better marination than if it was just left overnight in the fridge. Using a vacuum tumbling adds nothing to the marinade, its a marketing gimmick to sell expensive (high profit) vacuum tumblers for meat and poultry. USDA studies found it actually is the tumbling alone, not the vacuum and tumbling, that does the trick. People still charge double the price of this, for pricey food tumblers with a gimmicky vacuum!Hopefully your tumbler will work well for years.

5Great alternative to the bigger tumbler
By mckenziedrums
My sole use of this tumbler is for cleaning cartridge brass for reloading. You'll notice I say "clean" rather than polish. While the stainless media does get the brass polished it's the clean part that I'm most interested in. After tumbling 10,000 cases I feel I'm ready to review this and I couldn't be more happy. Unlike dry tumbling, using this tumbler with stainless media and a little lemishine + dawn mixed in you get truly CLEAN cases. Yea, your walnut or corn media might get the outside shiny but if you compare the inside (the part that really matters) of the cases there's no contest. For the machine itself... I processed 10k cases in 2 weeks time and had no issues whatsoever. It ran warm as advertised but no hiccups at all. As you should with all machines and tools, keep it properly lubricated and check on belt alignment prior to firing it up. I've run this near it's maximum 12lb capacity quite a bit and there was only one time I had to give the drum a little nudge to get it going. In truth, I was probably over the 12lb limit on that particular run.The drum isn't as big or fancy as the big brother 15lb version but when I bought this from Amazon it was considerably less expensive than that model and I'm not usually tumbling large quantities of brass. If you push it you can easily do 500 pcs of 9mm or 40 in there and I've even done 500 .45's but that was probably more than you SHOULD do. With .223 cases the max you're going to get in there and get good cleaning is about 200-250. Remember to buy yourself a decapping die and pop the primers out before tumbling so you get sparkling clean primer pockets!

5A great tool for an addicting hobby
By crgator
First, I don't consider this a toy, but rather a tool for a hobby. A toy you play with. This, you put rocks in a barrel and leave it alone to do it's job. But, it is a great tool. I got it for my girlfriend for Christmas. It caught me off guard when she said she wanted one, but I figured what the heck, why not. Now, almost 3 months after Christmas I'm finally writing a review. Why the delay? Because it takes a long time to finish the job.Her first batch was with a bunch of various rocks we bought from another vendor. They looked just like a bunch of rocks, nothing fancy at all. Well, after about a week in the course grit, you could see these rock were going to look really nice. In time. All in all, the rocks went through various levels of grit, and finally polish, and came out with some very nice looking polished stones. The next step is to make some jewelry with some of the nicer ones. It's hard to believe the difference in what a plain looking rock looks like after several weeks of being ground down, smoothed and then polished. Before her first batch was done, I decided I wanted to try some, too (a good reason to buy the two barrel model). I bought a couple pounds of Apache Tears. Well, after almost seven weeks, I took them out this past weekend. I found out after I started them, that Apache Tears are not easy to smooth and polish, but I'd already started them by then, so I was going to see it through. Wow, did they turn out great!I do wish some of the instructions had been a bit clearer though. You need to oil the unit, but the instructions left me, at least, not sure exactly where and how to do so. Be careful when you oil it not to get any oil on the drums or rollers. The lids are a bit of a bear to get on and off until you figure it out, and perhaps there could have been better directions on those as well.If you are going to get one of these, and you plan on doing two batches of rocks at a time, I would suggest you buy another drum, so you have at least three. Keep one for nothing but the polish stage, so you don't run the risk of contamination of the polish with some of the grit. A very thorough cleaning may alleviate that problem, but with the time it takes to complete a batch, the cost of a new barrel is negligible to ensure no problems. I actually bought two more barrels and use a different barrel for each stage. Mark them with a silver permanent marker (lids too) and you're good to go.(Remember, too, this set is not a kit. You will need to buy the grit and polish separate.)Although young kids will enjoy this, I still don't consider it a toy.

5This tumbler rocks
By Grandma Teresa
This is my first experience with a tumbler. The directions said to start with agates, (I didn't know what they were, so we went to a rock shop & bought some.) The tumbler works great, was made in the USA, and my 9 year old grandson is having a good time checking the progress every week. And so am I! It is incredible how beautiful the rocks are! This is more of a hobby tool than a toy, and I hope it will be something he will enjoy when he is older, too.

4Excellent for beginners and home hobbiest
By Henry F. Sims
I've never owned or used a rock tumbler so this was all new to me. I did not know that it takes as long as it did/does to tumble stones into a polished product; all phases of tumbling added it's between 3 and 4 weeks! But the unit ran non-stop overnight as the instructions say, you change the grit media (lil' messy but you get used to it & faster at it) at certain intervals and the end product is impressive. I think with some experience you could reduce the tumbling time. I did not use soft stones and again followed the instruction manual, I think with some actual gem stones and/or soft stones that would be the case that your tumbling time would be much shorter. But in the end it did really well. If anyone is making home jewelry/crafts or for a school project, this is ideal but again it may serve you best to begin the tumbling sometime prior to the start date of the actual project so they will be more ready. It's a quiet machine but the garage, laundry room or a separate crafts room would be better suited. Seems like its well made and should last a very long time.

5High quality die cast 1/18 scale of KARR
By Rexomus
I am a fan of the show and I also collect 1/18 scale cars from movies and TV shows. The working orange scanner (KITT"S is red), ejector seat, removable t-tops, and grappling hook are nice extras. I wish Ertl would have included KARR's voice however, the detail that Ertl put into this model is very nice. This car sits with the rest of my collection in my display and receives many compliments from visitors when they notice it. Ertl released both cars from the show, and I do appreciate that KARR was a limited run because it has appreciated in value.I would recommend this to any serious collector but not as a toy because because of the limitied run it was meant to appreciate in value and be displayed.

The K.A.R.R. is supposed to be a collectors item ... but my 11 year old son plays with his and he loves it! It's not an educational toy obviously, and would last for ever if I could convince him to leave it on the shelf. I'm sure he will break it eventually but it is metal, so is tough. If you are looking for a model of K.A.R.R. go for this one. I may even buy another one.

5Overhead generator exhaust for RV
By r_sqwaird
The product was easy to install and works well. It's very lightweight and comes in a convenient bag that slips into any RV basement storage compartment. It doesn't get too hot and it makes a huge difference for your neighbors when tailgating. I will say that it doesn't cut down on the noise as much as it claims. But overall it's a great product. One word of caution. Make sure your generator tailpipe is parallel to the ground and does not exit the vehicle on a down angle. If so, the Gen-Turi will lean way out to the side away from the motorhome. Mine was not parallel and I needed to have a short piece of pipe modified so I could install it properly.
