5Easy to install

I am no mechanic but this was easy to install on my 2000 Ford Escort. The front struts were particularly easy but the problem with the back was that it was just a bit harder to get to. Didn't not use any air compressed tools. Just a torque wrench and some muscle.A

4Good OEM-type replacement

Does the trick to replace the sagging and broken-down factory struts on my Escort. My only complaint is that the springs have a lot of pre-load in them, presumably to maintain a decent ride height as the coils begin to break down. As I replaced all four struts about the same time, my car now looks like it's ready for some of those stupid looking gangsta 30-inch wheels.

5Easy install!!!

Five of five stars! Perfect match and fit, easy install, did it in my driveway while getting my windshield replaced. Restored the ride back to new just like I had hoped. I was quoted $135 per strut plus the install and alignment which was 1,200 bucks (which wouldn't have come with new springs, mounts, isolators and boots). Got these fully assembled, brand new units for about $145 each with free shipping and I even found they apply to a $120 rebate from the manufacturer! All I have to do now is align it for $90 and I am under $600 for an all new suspension (after the rebate).

4Easy to install for experienced back yard mechanics

These struts came before they said they would in very good condition. Using two floor jacks the installation went quicky. Both the front struts and rear strut instalation was straight forward on my 1998 Camry. The rear ones were more time consuming due to the location of the tower bolts in the confined space below the rear window. You will need a ratcheting box wrench for quicker removal of the bolts rather than a ratchet and a socket. You will need to remove the left and right rear seatback bolsters. The are accessed by pushing down on the seat cushion below each bolster. The struts have a good ride and you would think you are driving a new car.

Strut assemblies arrived on schedule and were straightforward to install (after removing the rear seat in my Toyota Camry!) Definitely a smoother more stable ride compared to the originals after 130K miles.

5Monroe 171661 Quick Strut for 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix (front)

Product arrived in excellent condition, Jacked and blocked up vehicle, removed front wheels. Removed brake caliper and wired up out of the way, removed 15 mm nuts from upper mount on top of inner fender under the hood. Removed 21 mm nuts and drove out the bolts from the lower suspension with the hammer and punch. Removed the old strut assembly (DO NOT TAKE APART, under Severe Spring Tension)!! Make sure lower suspension arm doesn't drop too far when removing the old strut and be careful of the brake line, brake hose and ABS sensor and wiring. Install new quick strut assembly per the instructions that comes with them, top first, then lower end. May need to move lower suspension up or down to align strut to get the lower mounting bolts in. Use alignment punch in one of the two holes to get one bolt in (use caution and don't flatten bolt threads), then put the second bolt in. Tighten bolts and torque the nuts. Tools need are floor jack, safety jack stands or blocking, 15mm socket and ratchet, 21mm deep socket and ratchet or 1/2" drive air impact wrench, hammer, alignment or drift punch 1/4" or 3/8" diameter by 6" long, and torque wrench (not necessary but good idea to torque the nuts to proper specs for upper mount nuts and lower suspension bolts. Reinstall the brake caliper, mount the wheels and torque the lug nuts, remove safety stands and put vehicle down. Took about an hour a side to change both front quick struts. Easy job actually. First time I've done it and would highly recommend the Quick Strut for the do-it-yourself mechanic.

4replaced struts on 1999 Grand Prix

Over the past year, the ride in my Grand Prix had seriously deteriorated. It would bounce more than what is reasonable just going over small bumps and would bottom out on larger bumps or potholes. It would even scrape the bottom of the car going over a speedbump in parking lots as slowly as possible. So basically my springs and struts were both worn out.I figured the easiest way to fix the problem would be to buy some preassembled struts. I've had these Monroe assemblies on the car for a few weeks and the ride is better. It doesn't bounce any more than it should and it no longer bottoms out or scrapes speedbumps. Now I just need to get it aligned!

These are great struts, easy to install and the corrrect fit IF you research the numbers elsewhere. DO NOT TRUST the Amazon finder. Go through a reputible automotive site which sells them to get the CORRECT part number. I love Amazon...but their vehicle application search engine is terrible.

    4Good Mount, No Bellows, check bearing

    This mount fits and performs well, although I can't yet address its durability. Amazon's title for the part indicates that a bellows in included, and that is not true. Also, the bearing that is included needs to be looked at closely. I got left and right mounts. One was fine, the other had a bearing that came apart in my hands. The good bearing had a part number printed on it. The bad bearing did not, and that mount had arrived in a different style box, although both boxes had Moog labels. Amazon immediately replaced the bad bearing and its mount--no hassle, but a couple of days delay, of course. The new items showed part numbers, and they were not fragile. Advice: don't tear into your job until you are sure you have Moog parts from Moog's better supplier. The good parts installed without incident, and the symptoms that prompted their installation went away. I used new struts from KBY (KYB?), and there were no fit problems between struts and mounts. One thing to keep in mind: the top of the strut's shiny tube goes through a hole in the mount, and a nut screwed on the tube from the top of the mount holds it in place. These two parts are put together before the strut/mount assembly they become goes into the vehicle. The top of the shiny strut tube has flats, and the bottom of the hole in the mount has a wide slot. If you fit them together right, the strut and mount mate so that the strut tube is locked to the mount and will turn with it. The strut tube nut above the mount needs to be tightened only enough to keep them mated until mount is bolted onto the vehicle body during their installation. Then the strut tube nut can be tightened to final torque. That torque (36 ft-lbs on the 2000 Sienna I worked on) is not a lot, but I couldn't get the nut that tight until the mount was anchored to the body--locking the mount AND the strut tube against rotation. By the way, the strut manufacturer warns you against using an impact gun on that nut, and I see no need to do so. You might need a gun to get the nut off the strut you are replacing, but you probably don't care if you damage that one.

        i only use moog for replacement suspension parts. they are made way better than any factory parts and come with greese fittings so you can greese them and they will last longer unlike factory cheap parts with no greese fittings. best of all they are made here in the U.S.A . and made of high quality materials unlike the cheap stuff from china, made of cheap metal ,that breaks,cracks,strips out, bends and gets busted in half . nothing like made in U.S.A parts. buy moog your own safety and others safety is worth the price .
