2Get them at Lowe's for less than $5 each
By a reader
These spirals work well for supporting tomato plants but this one is very overpriced. First of all, from the picture it looks like you're getting two - I assumed a "single pack" would contain two considering the very high price, but you only get one. After it came I saw practically the same thing at Lowe's for something like $4.97 each.

3Works to a point, but really needs more support
By Retired Geek
I got one of these spirals as an experiment to see how it would work. It did pretty well at first - I was surprised at how well it supported the tomato plant. It did require constant pruning to keep the plant to a single stem, but that wasn't much of a problem. Of course, pruning to a single stem does mean fewer tomatoes, but they tend to be larger, and I have more than enough tomatoes anyway.By the time the plant got to the top of the spiral, and the tomatoes were developed to full-size, the plant spiral started leaning from the weight. I ended up having to use twine to tie the spiral to various objects around it in different directions, to keep it from blowing over in strong winds, or just falling from the weight. I'm planning to get a large, sturdy stake this week, and will use that as extra support for the spiral stake for the rest of the growing season. The tomato plant I used was one that has very large, heavy fruits, which didn't help with the weight issue. This product might work better if it were used with a tomato plant that has smaller fruits, but even then, there might be too much weight to support, especially if the plant is in an area that may get high winds. The plant on the spiral was quite attractive, though, and did not take up as much space as a cage. A row of these might work well if they were all attached to an overhead support, but if you're going to build that sort of structure, you might as well just use string for the tomatoes to twine around, rather than the spiral stakes. Another idea might be to use three of them tied together at the top in a tee-pee shape. The bottom line is that if you're putting indeterminate tomato plants on these, they will almost certainly need additional support to keep from falling over at maturity.Next year I may use the one I have for a climbing annual flower instead.

5Surprisingly, these work
By Cindy
I have tried almost everything to try to support my monster tomatoes. I bought these spirals without much hope that they would stay up and not fall over, and I've eventually worked out a method to use them that works. Make sure that you buy the 6 ft size, anything shorter would be useless. Then position four of them in a square on the ground about 2 1/2 ft apart. Push them in the ground and join the tops of the spirals and tie together with twine to form a pyramid. The pyramid adds strength and keeps the structure from toppling over. Plant a tomato plant at the base of each spiral (4 tomato plants). Prune each tomato plant to three or four stems each, weaving the main stem through the spiral as it grows. At 1 to 2 foot intervals up the spirals, use the Florida weave method to weave the twine around the spirals, sandwiching the tomato plants as they grow taller. I usually prune the tops of the plants when they grow over a foot above the spirals. I really do think that these work better than cages, even homemade ones., or regular wooden or bamboo stakes. You can try this same method by leaning individual spirals to a wall or a fence. If you want more than one stem per plant, you can also use the Florida weave method to hold the rest of the stems up.

5Excellent saw..great features..some very minor issues...
By Rich S
I recently purchased a Powermatic 2000 saw, 3hp, 1ph, with a 50" fence. The saw arrived in excellent condition in a big sturdy crate along with several heavy boxes containing the fence and rails. A few comments on this saw. The fit and finish of the saw are excellent. The cast iron top and wings are ground to a fine polish and match up well. The cast iron top on this saw is much larger than that of the Powermatic 66 and the Delta Unisaw. After uncrating and assembling the wings to the top I checked the alignment of the miter slots to the arbor and found it to be less than 0.01" right out of the crate. There was virtually no arbor runout. The arbor is a standard 5/8", but the arbor nut is huge, about double the width of the one on a Unisaw and much thicker. Instead of using a cheap stamped wrench, Powermatic sends you a 27mm box end wrench to use on the arbor nut. Even with the big nut the arbor still accomodates a 13/16" stacked dado head. In addition, the saw has an arbor lock which locks the arbor in place while changing blades. The lock mechanism works well and is fairly sturdy, but I'm a little concerned about its long term durability. The dust collection assembly for this saw is excellent, with the dust being mostly collected immediately below the blade by a "hood" with a dust collection hose hooked to it which is in turn hooked to the dust collection port on the back of the saw. The key to this system is to always run your dust collector whenever you have the saw on, even if its for one or two little cuts, otherwise you'll end up with dust in the cabinet and will have to vacuum that out yourself. The Powermatic 2000 uses a wide flat drive belt instead of the 3 v-belts found on a 66 or Unisaw. The single wide, flat belt seems to work well, but it will be interesting to see how it performs over the long haul. The fence for the 2000 is the same as the one used on the 66, 72A and 74 (in fact my boxes didn't say anything about fitting the 2000) and uses slightly heavier tube than the Biesemeyer and much heavier rails. While the saw itself is made in Taiwan, the fence is stamped "Made in USA". The motions on the saw are very smooth and work effortlessly. The lock knobs for the motions are big in diameter and heavy and work great! The saw cabinet is stamped steel, but the base is cast iron like the old Unisaws were. The On/Off switch is pretty cool and is another massive piece of hardware. The On button is inside a donut shaped red Off button. When the saw is plugged in the On button glows green. The saw starts smoothly and runs really quietly. Now for some of the minor issues...the built in mobile base system works nicely, however it only raises the cast iron base off the floor about 3/16" if that. So unless you have a perfectly level concrete floor you may have some issues moving the saw around. Plus you run the risk of damaging the legs on the extension table due to the lack of floor clearance. I would have like to seen the saw go up 1/2" clear of the floor. One plus is that all four wheels under the base swivel so you can move the saw in any direction you want. The splitter/anti-kickback system is a European style which curves part way around the blade. It also raises and lowers and tilts with the blade which is great. The minor downfall with it is taking it on and off the saw is a little cumbersome since the throat plate and splitter must be put on at the same time and its a little tough to get big hands under the throat plate to throw the lever that locks the splitter in place. Another concern at this time is the lack of availability of accessories. The throat plate for this saw is huge! The saw still has the same amount of clearance ahead of the throat plate as the Unisaw, but the plate extends back a lot further than is does in the Unisaw or 66. At this point I can't purchase a dado insert for the saw, nor can I purchase a zero clearance insert, so I'll have to make some. The stock throat plate uses a total of five allen screws for leveling, three in the front, and two in the rear. Overall this is an excellent saw and I think that it will probably replace the 66 in the future as Powermatic's primary saw for the serious hobbiest or professional user of 10" saws.

3How about some quality control?
By George R. Carion III
The first PM2000 shipped by Amazon arrived defective. Here are a list of the problems:1. When raising the blade the whole trunnion would wander towards he fence by at least .020.2. The trunnion would twist counter - clockwise on a horizontal plane causing the rear of the blade to wander away from the fence (and the front towards the fence) when raising the blade. Try keeping this one square to the miter slot. Not cool. This was also off by at least .020 front to rear.3. The nylon shoulders on the fence were far from flat.4. The fence measurement mark line was in the shape of a thin "V". The V was about 1/16" wide at the top.5. The insert plate was missing the adjust screws.6. When WMH sent out the replacement screws it was impossible to get the plate flat with the table. How did this unit make it out of their factory?WMH and Amazon were nice enough to send out a whole new saw, and pick up the bad one free of charge, so I can't complain much about their customer service. The new saw is good all around, no twisting etc., and the whole setup was much more accurate out of the box. Even the insert plate was flat to the top. However, it was shipped out without the hardware needed to mount the fence rails to the table top and extension table.I'm going on a month without a fully functional saw thanks to unacceptable quality control on the part of WMH. I'd also like to mention that this is an incredible hassle. Shipping, unloading, assembling X2, disassembling, disposal of all the cardboard and the pallet X2, multiple calls to customer service. Not cool and incredibly time consuming.WMH/Powermatic customers deserve better. WMH Tool Group needs to try harder.

4Great Saw - Minor Problems
By T. McCabe
Just purchased this saw as an upgrade to a Delta Contractor's Tablesaw. This is sooo much nicer!! Quality throughout. But the fit needed a couple of adjustments:1. The fence lockdown handle is supposed to screw into the cam lever. Mine came un-tapped! The hole was there but no threads. I could have asked Powermatic for a replacement lever, but I chose to tap the threads myself. Very easy and a quick fix.2. The molded plastic motor cover needed to have the top plastic hinge enlarged. It would not line up with the steel hinge part mounted on the saw. Again, an easy fix with a drill bit.Other than these minor gliches, this is a super saw. And getting it off the shipping pallets was a snap with the built-in casters. Normally you have to have a couple fiends help heft it from the pallet. Not this saw. I layed out the 2x4 crate side supports and added a piece of plywood to make a ramp, cranked down the casters and just rolled it off single-handedly! Sweet!I gave this rating 4 stars due to the above problems, but really its 4 3/4. Don't hesitate to buy this saw because it's not a 5 star rating.

5Great subwoofer for the price
By Kerry E. Battles Jr.
I grabbed this sub for its ability to do a free air setup. Once I enlarged a hole in my vehicles rear deck, I mounted there and it fit perfectly. For the free air setup, I'm still dialing it in and eliminating resonance as well as extra vibrations but so far it sounds great and looks good doing it.

5FINALLY A GPS UNIT THAT IS WORTH BUYING
By BocaDude
About time someone made a proper size screen that makes sense for use in cars. I have a really small vehicle, Toyota Prius, and this 7200 Streetfinder gps is perfect size for the car. There are many useful functions on the touch screen or you can use the remote control. The screen is big, beautiful and bright, if you want bright, if not you can adjust it. I mainly like to just keep the unit on "map" function so I can see what streets are coming up, especially at night when I an not in my neighborhood. The name of the next street is there is big bold letters, but if you press the "speak" button on the remote, it will announce the upcoming street. This thing is great and I highly recommend it. The cigarette power supply and bracket (one piece) makes it a snap to remove the unit for safe keeping. One easy motion and its off the bracket. Garmin really put a lot of thought into this one. There are so many ways this thing works but I don't want to write a book here. The only thing I can recommend is that if you are not going to mount it directly on top of your dashboard, purchase the Garmin "Ga 25MCX Low Profile Gps" antenna that snaps into the back of the unit. It will give you great reception results, instead of "searching for satellite" you will get "ready for navigation" in just a few moments. The wire that it comes attached to it is not too big and allows for easy squeezing into small places for easy concealment. I didn't have to mount it outside my car for great reception, as a matter of fact, just plugging it into the back of the unit made a great difference. For true mobile use I am sure Garmin will be coming out with a suction mount also in the near future. JUST ORDER IT, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! That is my opinion.

5Review of Garmin 7200
By Ronald M. Turtur
Just purchased, only used on a few trips, but want to give you my first impressions, which are very positive.First, the ads say that this is designed for larger vehicles. Not agreed. The impression from the on-line descriptions is that the screen size is HUGE, for example, the same as your office PC. Not true, it is a 7 inch diameter screen, so it is still relatively small, the same size as most current built in expensive auto GPS screens. Compared to the 2730 model, the 7200 has perfect size touch screen inputs while on the go. For the extra money, recommend the 7200 with the larger screen over 2730 which has the same features. So, the touch screen size of the model 7200 is great for viewing and input of addresses on any size vehicle.I was very impressed with connectivty during heavy weather and recommend the external antenna option (sticks to the inside windshield by suction cups). The voice commands are excellent with advance warnings of upcoming turns and then the next anticipated turn.Screen is bright and automatically adjusts to light. No need to change anything in the initial settings, they are great. Just plug in and go. User friendly screens.Easy to upgrade to the latest software as shown on the garmin web site from your PC to the unit. No need to insert update chips. The on/off switch. Should press and hold down. Just a light press does not do anything.I was disappointed that the software bundle included in the package did not include the NT navagation database software, and had to purchase it separately. The PC software allows you to pre-plan your route on your PC and download this to your 7200 so you do not have to load addresses on the go. I tested this and it works great. If you are in a traffic jam, press "Detour" and you will taken around the jam to your destination. Be prepared however to go through back roads and areas that you may not know.I did not test the special features of sat. nav. traffic, audio, nor books yet.Update: I have used this now on a dozen trips and the navigation is very trustworthy. My wife is a Realtor and she loves it.

1This is a GREAT system. . . . but it's not a map.
By J. Lockhart
I researched it for months and knew exactly what I wanted in a GPS, before I purchased the Garmin StreetPilot 7200. It has all of the features I was looking for, a large screen, real time traffic, remote, etc. I'm not going to dwell on all the great features. Every review will tell you about these, and they are great, if entering an address to go to or finding a restaurant or gas station is all you're going to use it for. What you won't see in the reviews, and what the manufacturers ads don't tell you is that this unit does not show street names on the map. If you program in an address and want it to guide you to a specific place, it shows the next street you are going to cross, and will tell you every turn to make and when to make it. And it does that very well, most of the time. I have had it take me on a circuitous route that never ends if you keep following the directions, but that is rare. A much more common problem is that on some freeways it does not know when I take the entrance ramp, and still thinks I'm on the service road. At a certain point before each new entrance it starts telling me to take the next entrance ramp, in spite of the fact that I'm already on the freeway. And as I pass the entrance and it thinks I have missed the ramp again, it says "recalculating route" in what seems to me a reproving tone of voice. Very annoying. Also, unless you're on a major Interstate Highway, it does not tell you the name of your exit. If I'm on Northwest Freeway a mile from my exit at 34th Street, it says "Take exit to Northwest Freeway in one mile", etc.Looking back on it, it was the one feature that I didn't research. But then I guess I just assumed that it would have the street names on the map. After all, I wouldn't ask if a Rand McNally Road Atlas had street names. Every GPS I have ever seen shows the street names.I have to admit, this unit works as well as a yellow pages if you're sitting in a strange place and need to find a gas station or restaurant. It lists every conceivable place you might want to go, along with address, phone number, and directions. But if you are simply parked in a strange part of town and want to know what street you are on, forget it. It shows you the street layout, but you have no way of knowing the street names. What if I just want to use it as a regular map? If I'm simply driving down the street and want to know what street I'm on I have to look for a street sign or pull out the old Key Map Guide that I thought I'd never have to use again. If you need directions to get somewhere specific and know the address, this unit is great. But what if you're lost and need a map? Forget it. There's just no way to use this "map" as a map. You can zoom in on an area and see the way the streets run, but not the street names.I've contacted Garmin twice... surely there must be a way to see the street names... to turn this feature on? I was told that the system was not designed to show street names, there is nothing I can do to make it show street names, and the reason for that is that it would be too cluttered, and might distract me while driving.Maybe that's true, but I think I should have the option to see the names of the streets just like a regular map, and be able to make my own decision whether to turn it off if I feel distracted, instead of Garmin making that decision for me. The reason I BOUGHT the big screen was so that I could see the street names better. Every other unit I've seen, even other Garmins, show street names, and most have smaller screens than the 7200.A friend just bought a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 with a factory installed in-dash Kenwood GPS, with a swing out screen about the same size as the 7200. When I first saw it, I was amazed to see the same basic layout and graphics as my Garmin, and that it in fact uses Garmin software. I was helping him set it up, and I have to admit that deep down I was kind of glad that he too would no longer have the street names on his GPS, like his old one did. Maybe the old adage "misery loves company" has some truth to it. Just as I was having to bite my tongue to keep the glee out of my voice as I commiserated with him over the fact that now he, too, was going to have to do without street names... well, I could hardly believe my eyes. On this screen that looked just like mine, using the Garmin software I have gotten so familiar with and with Garmin actually written on the screen, just as it was on mine... all the street names within a two-mile radius popped up! I'm actually very happy for him. It's just that he never researches anything. He just goes out and buys the most expensive one of whatever it is, and everything always seems to work out great. And I research it and compare models for months and buy a top of the line GPS and... OK... I'm not really happy for him at all. I wish I had his unit and he had mine. And before you ask, no, this software will not work on my 7200. I tried to purchase it on the Garmin website the same day I saw his Kenwood and they acted like I was crazy for even thinking it might work.Well, I've had my 7200 for almost a year now, and it stays stored in my center console most of the time, unless I have a specific address to go to, or need to know where the closest What-A-Burger is (like I don't already know the exact location of every What-A-Burger in the Greater Houston Area!)I'm very envious when I'm in a friends car, and even though I may have to put on my glasses because their screen is one third the size of mine, I can see every street name. I thought I had done all the research, but I was wrong and would have looked further if I had known this unit lacked the basic ability to display the names of the streets on the map. I just wish I had it all to do over again. Even if I had to spend more to get what I want, it would be worth it. And needless to say, I would NOT buy a Garmin... even one that shows the streets.
