Product Description
Our sword has features in common with its historical counterpart. It has a double edged blade, hand forged out of high carbon steel and then polished to a brilliant lustre. The wooden handle is covered in leather and is supported by a simple, elegant guard at one end and an equally handsome 5 lobed pommel at the other. Both guard and pommel feature traditional Celtic knot embellishments.To house the keen double edge blade each of our swords is supplied with a wood scabbard covered in black leather and reinforced with a highly polished steel chape and throat.

Gone Viking

My Cold Steel Viking sword, has a leather hilt that actually fits my hand, with a half inch to spare. It was basically sharp when I got it, but a few strokes on my Diamond DMT Wetstone, and it sliced through the skin of a tomato with as little pressure as my quality kitchen knives. The Cold Steel Viking Sword weighed in on my electronic postage scale at 2 pounds 4.5 ounces, which is a full 5 ounces lighter than my CAS Hanwei practical (dull) Viking Sword. The balance is superior to any of the swords in my collection. I only wish that my CAS Hanwei practical sword fit my hand and balanced as well.The blade has the feel of good spring steel and has a solid feeling flex. Review of Viking Age swords sometimes talk of the fullered groove down the center of the blade. It is not a blood groove, rather it was designed that way to keep the blade from becoming overly heavy, without much loss of strength. This center groove on the Cold Steel blade appears to me that it was machined in, rather than hammered in during a traditional forging process on the blade. In that regard, I like the wider fullered groove that came with the CAS Hanwei practical viking sword

Nice Sword

I AM a historical full contact weapons specialist and find Cold Steel Cuttlery's products to be exceptional. I even have thier polyeurothane practice weapons.The blade is finely crafted and is easily sharpened with a nice EZE Lap diamond sharpener, the high carbon steel allows it to keep a good edge much longer than conventional iron swordcrafting and is a pound or so lighter, which makes it very easy to spear and slash!I got it on sale for $263, albeit it normally runs for around $400...I would not buy it for $400, however it is an extreme value at $250 or thereabouts ~smiles~I AM editing this, as I have now owned this sword for a while, I have used it while Snowshoeing and Backpacking in the wilderness in deep snowpacks, it was used as a machette, woodsplitter, and kept the wolves at bay ~grins~. It got discolored and rusty quickly, but was easly enough polished back up with my EZE Lap and some oils ~smiles~, I should have oiled the sword and scabbard before entering wet wheather, but I spaced it...However she came back nicely, shows no wear....The High Carbon Steel lives up to her rep ~smiles~ Go, go Coldsteel ~hails~

Very nice Sword.

This is very nicely crafted for the price and looks great too. Scabbard is functional but sometimes it will jam up. No real complaints.
