4Great overall for listening back...and probably DJ'ing too
By Coop
I bought these after spending the better part of a day comparing (online only unfortunately) many different brands and models. My degree is actually in sound recording and other media so I'm very picky about anything audio, and I had a good idea of what I was looking for.Overall, I've been very happy with them. They do a good job drowning out extraneous background noise for studying (or trying to ignore people) as one would hope. At medium volumes, my girlfriend cannot hear what I'm listening to from 4 feet away. They also turn a noisy plane into a pleasurable experience.Music quality is excellent for listening back. Accurate, pleasant at low and high volumes, and comfortable after you break them in for a few hours. Actually they're fairly comfortable out of the box, but since I wear glasses it took a little more time. Since the earpieces can fold flat on your upper chest, they feel completely comfortable around your neck as your walking around the airport to catch your adjoining flight :)These wouldn't be my choice for initial studio mixing (which I don't do anymore), but I would definitely use them as a 'reference tool' to check my mixes outside the studio to see how everything translates in the real world.Only gripe - and I think it's more my devices than the headphone's plug - the headphone plug is loose in some devices causing mono/stereo change or complete cut outs. I thought this was the cable itself at first until I realized it was the connection in the jack of my devices. The breakdown is as follows:iPod (3.5mm connection) = absolutely no problems; nice snug fitiMac (3.5mm connection) = about as good as the iPodTosiba laptop(3.5mm connection) = about as good as the iPodMacbook -not "Pro"- (3.5mm connection) = just fine if I'm not moving around much (i.e., fine for studying, flipping through books, etc.), but if I stretch the cable (it has a coiled portion on the lower half like a phone receiver), it'll pop out of the jack fairly easily. You may, however, get up with your laptop and walk around with ease...that's some saving grace.Sony stereo receiver (1/4" adapter included w/headphones) = The receiver is finicky, and it took a little fiddling to get things right. I think it's the result of moving around a lot. The phones work very well, and the problems are not with the headphones, but rather, the receiver itself. These are a great pair of headphones for the price. I recommend them for any novice just looking for an all around awesome pair and not wanting to blow money on over-expensive products (you know who I'm talking about). I'd even recommend them for a studio needing a middle-of-the-road reference tool. It's nice that they have enough response to get a lot out of listening back, but they're not going to give you all the annoying nuances that are in some recordings...which is what I want when just enjoying my tunes.

5Simply amazing!
By NS
I just received these in the mail today. I put them on and am blown away by the sound that comes out of these. Some reviews say that they are not bassy enough. That is a VERY VERY untrue statement. Most people want there to be tons of bass... so the people that are claiming that need a headphone that boost the bass. These headphones give you the true tone of what ever you are listening to. I DJ a bit, and i write electronica/trance music these are the best headphones I have ever used. I also play in a few different bands and i have used various types of headphones. If you are thinking about getting these just go ahead and by them. Best quality ever!

5Best headphones I ever owned!
By ColdShot
I received these as a present! My old ones were sony pro and I thought they sounded decent. But comparing the sony to the denon is not much of a matchup! The denons are clear and loud and has all the bass you ever wanted...I'm talking thru the laptop!!!Not a 3k stereo! And no fancy soundboard either! I'd compare them sensitivity wise, something akin to klipsch, where you can drive the speakers with a 5watt boom box...of course the boombox doesn't have enuf RMS to reallyget the fabulous sound of 100watts RMS per channel if you get my meaning!?And of course they reproduce the cleaner sound you get thru a nice stereo as well!Anyways, I was surprised to get them as a present, and I was even more surprised as to how spectacular they sounded! If you get a chance to try them...then do so.What would you like to know that I did not mention?
