This means that she is now a young woman herself. The sari is made from a single piece of silk that is six yards long and is wrapped, tucked, and draped into a graceful gown. It is embroidered with silver flowers sparkle through the deep orange silk chiffon, Neela"s silk raffeta choli or blouse closes with a delicate beaded tie that crisscrosses in the back. There is a gardenia tucked into her braid . As Neela dresses for the wedding, her mother gives her a new gold necklace to go with the gold and silver jewelry that her parents have been collecting for her since she was born.
As India struggles for its freedom, Neela also strives for her chance to grow independently and with pride. -- Please note that the "Girls of Many Lands" dolls were Not made with undergarments as they were mainly made for display.
