I purchased this produt to stargaze. The wide angle lens allow for a large amount of starlight to reach your eyes. The low magnification keep the binoculars steady in your hands. I used them durring the last meteor shower. You can see the faint meteors with these binocs. This product is perfect for the beginer stargazer. Binoculars are the first item one should purchase when starting out night sky viewing anyway. I did the reaserch on which low powered binocular were best....this is the one.

I looked and looked for the right pair of binoculars. I need wide angle as we live on a lake and I like to take a look at the passersby sometimes. I had an old pair of Jason 7x35 that did the job but I left them out one night and it rained. Glad it rained. I searched on eBay, overstock, you name it. Then I stumbled on this pair of Barska and decided to take a chance. $34 with free shipping? What a joke. Got them today. Packaging was unbelievable. You could throw the box off Sears Tower and not have any damage. But the best news was the binocs themselves. I immediately took a look out my sliding glass doors to the lake and presto, the greatest wide angle view possible. These binocs are heavy so they must be well constructed. They focus easily and brought good detail to my eyes quickly. I have another couple pair that are very strong and only good for zeroing in on a small spot a mile away. That's not what I need. I needed these Barskas and I'm glad I bought them from amazon. In summary: great wide angle view, heavily constructed, well packaged, fast delivery, cheapest price I could find. I'm batting myself on the back, I'll tell ya.

The close focus was said to be 18.4ft. however I find it to be about 22ft.and it is a little heavy. It is still a great buy. Very clear viewing.
