CARR RotaBar for YJ Jeep Wranglers
By Rick M.
What a GREAT PRODUCT ! Wife's Jeep has a non-rotating bar, but I needed one that would fit easily under a full cover. Searched high and low on the Internet and through local (Tampa...) parts dealers. Was surprised to find the absolute best deal on Amazon.com !!!Found several on E-Bay that pictured the rotating bar, but were actuallly selling the cheaper 'non-rotateable' version so I was amazed to find the proper model on Amazon ( p/n 210912)! Amazon shipped very quickly and the unit was extremely well packed and protected !Bar requires drilling six holes (...1/2 inch...) in the windshield frame for mounting, but kit contains amazing litlle insertable 'nuts' that work great as long as you don't oval-out or over-drill these holes. Use good quality Titanium-nitride tipped drill bits and start several bits smaller than the final 1/2 " bit to make centering and drilling easier or get someone familiar with work like this to assist you for success in this important step. One other step that must be comleted is measuring the needed length of the bar and cutting the excess off the provided bar with a good hacksaw and metal cutting blade. Not hard work, just follow the provided instructions for coming up with this lenght and cutting the excess off of each end so the lights will be centered on your vehicle.Gaskets, quality hardware, and even the Allen wrenches needed for installation and 'tilting' are included. The mounting bolts are 'high security' and the wrench for these has been modified so theft of your bar is unlikely.Mounting holes and slots are provived for 4+ lamps. I used decent quality Halogen lights from Harbor Freight for mine.Wiring is easy, but the trickiest part of installing a light bar. Use a relay for switching power to the bar. Don't try to use a single switch to carry the current for several lights. Use wiring 'quick disconnect' (...bullet / spade lug type ) terminals. This will allow you to remove the bar or change out broken / damaged light assemblies if needed. Spend time planning the wiring route and relay mounting location to make this final step easier. With a little bit of thought and work this bar will reward you with a GREAT LOOKING INSTALLATION !!!!!Hope allof this helps you with this product !!!!!!Rick
