Product Description

Built for performance and show utilizing the highest quality components, the K&N 77 Series High-Flow Performance Kit is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed for Trucks and Sport Utility Vehicles. K&N intake systems replace your vehicle's restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow, allowing your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range. The filters on these kits are washable and reusable and are relatively easy to install using tools commonly available.

5Worth ever penny
By R. Reiterman
I made the mistake of buying a lesser, cheaper costing air intake setup (Spectre) for my '06 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi. While it was much cheaper, the ease of installation and the products actual quality was vastly inferior to this K&N 77-1533KP. Within a few weeks, the rubber seals holding the filter on started deteriorating, the hose clamps cracked (causing me to replace them three times in about 5 months). The final straw that made me get rid of the cheap model was when the cheap metallic tubing began to crack near my throttle body where the tube was bent to mate up with the engine. The manufacturer states it uses only the best aluminum available for their CAI kits but it honestly looks more like an injection molded plastic with a shiny coating than aluminum. It even sounds like plastic when I tossed it in the trash ... anyways.Lesson learned for going cheap! This time around bought the K&N CAI kit but was hesitant because it is literally 6 times the price of the last one I bought (7 times, if purchased elsewhere). As soon as I took it out of the box, the differences were obviously noticeable. The quality of everything from the filter, the tubing and even the bolts used for installation are much better. Now, I'm not going to make unverified claims of horsepower or miles-per-gallon as I have not had my truck dyno'd but I can say this. 1) The idle sound of my truck has improved dramatically. I have an aftermarket 6.1L Hemi cam with JBL Headers and Flowmaster Super-40 true-dual X-pipe exhaust setup. I didn't think the idle sound could get better but it did. Acceleration sounds amazing now. I've seen claims that people say they can hear a sucking sound but honestly, I've tried to hear it and cannot. My truck is by no means too loud to hear it either. I'm not one of those people who think a truck should make people deaf when passing by but a Hemi should sound like a Hemi! 2) Acceleration is more responsive and the engine reacts much better than stock. Mid-range accel (around 40-80mph) is the biggest difference in my opinion. 3) I've noticed a slight pickup when climbing hills, especially with a load or trailer attached. Cruise Control does not up/downshift as much anymore in hilly areas either. I've attempted to judge the gas mileage difference using the built in computer on my truck but honestly it is next to impossible to get ideal and exact situations without using a Dyno in a windless enviroment.Note: Keep your factory air intake just incase you get another vehicle your K&N fits down the line. Save you some money! At the very least you could resell it and it should still be in great condition. Mine is almost new, including the original filter (properly cared for), nearly 2 years later.Last week I purchased my second K&N CAI kit for my other car. Once again as with our truck, a definite difference in idle and acceleration sound. My exhaust is still stock on this vehicle, much quieter than my truck and yet again, I cannot notice the "sucking sound" people claim to hear. All air intakes make a sound when under high RPM's (obviously, more air is going in and quicker). Also, Amazon's "Does it fit my vehicle?" database shows this does not fit a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500, Quadcab 5.7L SLT 4x4, when in fact it is the exact model recommend according to K&N's website. It installed perfectly in my truck. It's also much cheaper at Amazon.com (by about $75) than it was at any other website I could find.

5Awesome bolt-on performance!!
By C. Reil
With minimal mechanical skills, one can easily mount this part to their engine. Great, clear instructions from K&N. Will improve fuel mileage and acceleration as the manufacturer declares. Love it. Will have one installed on every vehicle I own from here on.
