5Expedition Fuel Pump - Drop in Replacement
By baldys250
The fuel pump went out on my '01 Expedition with only 100,000 miles on it. Up until now this vehicle had been great with no mechanical issues, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. But a fuel pump should last longer than 100K miles. Especially b/c the dealer wanted $1,200 to replace it!This one cost me less than $400, took me about 4 hours of work, and works just like it should. Perfect! The 4 hours included dropping the tank, replacing all rubber lines (fill and vacuum), and pump replacement. Once the tank was out of the vehicle, the project was s-i-m-p-l-e!Perfect replacement pump if you are in the same boat as me.

5Awesome Purchase
By cescobar7
My SUV began having problems with the original fuel pump close to the 100,000 mile mark on my odometer. The engine would turn over but wouldn't crank. A light tap on the bottom of the gas tank would bring the truck back to life, so I knew it was the fuel pump. The truck still has a lot of life in it and I like to replace the critical components with quality parts to maintain the young spirit of the engine. I went to the dealership to price a fuel pump and to my surprise it was in the $500 range. So I got online and found the same exact part on Amazon for 50% less, I compared the price to the generic parts from AutoZone and the other stores, and the price was nearly the same. Not only that, but when you compare the parts side-by-side, you can tell the difference in the quality of the construction. So, I figured this would be a good investment. It was one of the best purchases I have made. Not only did I find the exact dealership item for half the price, but I got it shipped to me for free in about 2 days. I'm a do-it-yourself person, so I got my Haynes manual and put the part on myself. It is a fairly simple installation if you are good with following directions. As soon as I replaced the fuel pump, the engine stopped having the cranking problem. It has now been around 13-14 months that it has been installed and it works just as well as it did when I first bought it. I have not had a problem with cranking the engine ever since. In all, this was one of the best purchases I have made in a while.
