This Ford type TFI module worked great!
By Gary Steiner
My original Ford TFI module began acting up. Symptoms were misfires, and the tach jumping quickly after the car was warmed up. I have a 91 Ford Mustang GT with manual transmission. After I determined I needed a new TFI module, I went to Ford's parts department at my local dealer ship. They told me the original factory part would cost $166.00 After searching on the internet and at Amazon I found this Accel module. My big question was would the Accel 35369 support push starting? No where could I find this info, and I knew some forum posts said Accel's product would no work the same as OEM, and not support push start. There's two versions, one for automatic transmission, and one for manual. The Accel 35369 TFI control module said it was for manual transmissions. I took a risk and bought it.My results? Well for one getting the original TFI off the Ford Mustang's distributor was a problem. I needed a 7/32 deep socket. I found one at a local Napa. You will also need heat sink compound sold at radio shack, since accels ships it with clear silicone only. I installed the 35369 TFI, and tested it. Worked perfectly, no more missing, or tachometer jumping. Also I tested push starting with my 91 Ford Mustang and the Accel 35369 TFI Control module, and yes THE 35369 SUPPORTS PUSH STARTS!I am very happy with this purchase which saved nearly $100. I am unsure if the more common Accel 35368 would have let me push start my manual mustang. It has been working well for 1 month now. So if you have a Manual 5.0L Ford, get this part.
