Great Boot - With only a few flaws
By Matthew Herbert
I have worn these boots pretty much daily since I opened the box. I wear them to work (office) and to hunt (Michigan- wet/cold conditions).Pros:- Warm! They won't keep your feet warm all morning in your stand but are better than most hunting boots I've owned Extra wide boots leave extra room for warm socks. This means less socks for work when I don't want to overheat my feet and more socks for hunting- I was worried with the extra width/insulation that these boots have would be heavy to walk in. I have not noticed any problems related to weight.- Gortex is great. I had a pair of boots for 10 years (hunting only) that never leaked. The soles wore down so I had to get rid of them. It's a name brand I trust.- Full grain leather, looks great- Goodyear welt construction - I believe in trusting name brands (Goodyear, Goretex, Thinsulate). You know what you are going to get when the product features name brand improvements.Cons:- Lacing at the top does not stay. My old boots allowed me to tie them (loosely) and slip them on/off. These will require you to tie them each time or you'll have to wear them very loose (without the top 3 crossing points on the laces). This is my biggest problem with these shoes.- They say made in China. If you look at Wolverine's website for this model boot it says Made in the USA. Disappointing.- The laces are not that nice. My previous boots' laces last for 3 years. These have already shredded. The laces appear to be more cheaply made but the real reason they shredded is because I wear them unlaced often when I am just slipping them on for a short period (to take the trash to the curb). Then I step on the laces and they wear down quickly. This is why the first con is so important (to me). I'll just by the better laces my old boots had.
