I bought this because I was having a problem with my turn signal not working, and there were some wires pinched on the factory assembly. This did not fix the problem, the problem is most likely the relay switch that's located above the fuse box inside the dash. If you are buying this part in an attempt to fix the problem of your turn signal not working, it may be the relay switch and not the assembly in the column.

while the problem turned out to be the hazard relay. this turn signal switch was an exact fit for the old one.

I purchased this dimmer switch to replace the factory installed unit. I was experiencing a problem where the lights would randomly come on in the Jeep Grand Cherokee at night when the switch was set to Auto. This occured when the vehicle was parked and no key in the ignition. This of course did run the battery down on several occasions.The new switch installed with no problem and took very little time to install. Only negative is lack of directions for installation.
