Easy install, Nice design, Pricey for molded plastic
By Summer Campr
I have owned a number of MaxxAir products over the years and overall I have been pleased with them. It is nice MaxxAir continues to refine their product and the new hinges will make cleaning under the vent much easier than non-hinged models. The plastic housing is durable, but they will begin to "chalk" after a few years. I would consider a 5 star rating, however, the value vs. materials used do not justify the price, but they know your options are limited. One important suggestion. Spray the wing nut fasteners which hold down the non-hinged side with a anti-corrosion spray such as Corrosion Pro or T-9 BoeShield. The nuts are aluminum and the posts stainless. The result will be corroded/frozen nuts in a reasonably short period of time if an anti-corrosion inhibitor is not applied. If you have not used T-9 Boeshield, you will be very pleased if you try it. It does a very good job slowing down the corrosion process with dissimilar metals.

This is the roof vent that you need to buy!!!
By Mark Fox
I purchased two of these units for our trailer. I replaced a standard (that is, cheesy) roof vent with a Fan-Tastic 4000R, and I added this cover at the same time. I used the 2nd one to cover the (equally cheesy) bathroom vent fan.Our trailer has been parked for the past five months (all winter), and it's held up great. We've had wind storms, a blizzard and pouring rain during that time. During ALL of it, both roof vents were open, and not a drop of water got in.Installation was straightforward, although I supplemented the paper instructions with a video from their website. There are two reasons why THIS is the vent cover to purchase. The first is that the vented face is angled, which helps keep rain and snow out. This angled grate also has louvers that are perpendicular to the ground. Snow/rain would have to curve through an impossible path to reach the inside of the vent cover. The second reason to purchase this vent is that it is hinged, making for easy cleanout of your fan (or for fan maintenance...if you didn't buy the Fan-Tastic Fan!!!).If you'll be upgrading your fan at ANY time, you'll want the larger interior volume that this cover provides. You might as well get this one now (even if you AREN'T upgrading your fan today).I can confidently recommend that you purchase this vent.

Great RV Roof Fan Cover
By G. A. Hughes
The MaxxAir 850 vent cover for RV roof fans is a great product. Extremely easy to install with simple / excellent to follow directions (both written that accompany the product, and video available on-line by the manufacturer). This covers our RV's roof fan to allow continued ventilation while we're away, while also keeping rain, debris, etc. out! Very nice product!!!
