I just got done putting this together and I will say it's pretty stout. They didn't skimp on steel or welds. It took most of a day to assemble with breaks (by myself - one motivated person can do it but two would be better). Like everyone else says in reviews of equipment with bolts DON'T TIGHTEN ANYTHING DOWN UNTIL EVERYTHING IS ASSEMBLED! That would have saved me some time. I never learn. Oh well, now that it's up and running I tried it out and it's very smooth. The seat is comfortable. The foot plate tilts as you press so your ankles always have the right alignment (nice). I wish the footplate was a little bigger but I can fix that down the road. The picture does not do this thing justice. It's HUGE. About as big as a Honda Goldwing motorcycle in the garage - perhaps a foot or two longer. I measured the olympic sleeves at 14 inches. If a 45 lb plate is 1.25 inches that's 11 plates per side. 22 plates is 990 lbs. A 100 lb plate is about 2 and a third inches wide. That's six plates per side - or 1200 lbs, their advertised limit. We'll see how it holds up. I'm not real familiar with Champion Barbell but this is more sturdy than any of my Powertec equipment. The design seems similar to Body Solid or even the commercial Cybex. The Body Solid Seat slides back and forth and this seat just tilts. I'm 5'11" and it fits me just fine. It's almost 500 lbs. I have faith in it.
