Vehicle: 1998 Jeep TJ Wrangler 4.0LI bought this locally after ordering an ATP 101212 Exhaust Manifold from Amazon, which turned out to be a poor choice for my '98 TJ (required removing material from the intake, hammering the #5 exhaust pipe, several lower mount bolts were nearly impossible to access, thus very difficult to properly torque). I didn't have confidence in the ATP given the installation problems, so I bought the Dorman and installed it instead. Wow. What an enormous difference. The fit is dead accurate, and the mount bolts are much easier to access such that their torques can be reasonably accurately set. Where I struggled with the ATP for hours and was never really satisfied with the install quality, I had the Dorman on in about a 1.5 hours, working at a leisurely pace. Total time to reconnect everything and restart the engine only took about one more, again leisurely, hour. One disappointment: the included gasket was banged up and damaged by the manifold, and didn't look like a well made gasket anyway. I bought a Fel-Pro, instead.Only four stars at this point, since I don't know how well it will hold against cracking. Still, if this one does crack down the road, I'll get another just to avoid the headache of struggling with an aftermarket header-style manifold. I've never been dissatisfied with Dorman products, and this manifold is no exception.

A few months after I bought my '91 Cherokee 4.0L it developed a crack in the OEM exhaust manifold which caused a very small exhaust leak. Barely noticeable, but I took the opportunity to 'upgrade' to an aftermarket header. I'm the type of person that likes to turn an auto repair into an opportunity to make something better than stock whenever possible, so it seemed like the obvious way to go. The header I bought was a no-name brand, but seemed well made from stainless steel and plenty of people on various Jeep forums seemed to run them without issue.To make a long story short, although it looked cool and made the exhaust note a bit deeper, the fancy tubular header was a PITA to install, and in six months it cracked worse than the OEM manifold it had replaced! It cracked in more than one place, in fact; and I was driving around with the Cherokee sounding like an old tractor, getting horrible MPG and losing all my passing power from having a massive exhaust leak upstream of the O2 sensor. Not wanting to take a chance on another generic aftermarket part, I ordered this up manifold, knowing that Dorman makes OEM quality products. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that this manifold is actually based on a later OEM design, where the expansion joints were added to help prevent the cracking that has been an issue with the 4.0L exhaust manifolds for many years.When the Dorman arrived it was clearly well made, and though I was dreading doing this job for the second time, it installed without any unpleasant surprises or headaches. No primary tubes blocking access to bolts like the header I had tried previously, hooray! Honestly, it fits so well that it almost makes installation enjoyable... almost. Although the Dorman fits like a glove, it's really not a job you'd want to do twice.This manifold has been on my Jeep for several months and 12,000+ miles now, and I have not had any problems with it whatsoever. I'd pretty much forgotten all about it in fact, because it does the simple job an exhaust manifold is meant to do: carry exhaust gasses from the cylinder head to the exhaust system without any leaks! Obviously, I'm extremely pleased with this product. Although my own Cherokee should be set for life with this manifold, if I ever acquire another 4.0L powered Jeep with a cracked exhaust manifold, replacing it with a Dorman will be a no-brainer. I can't recommend this manifold enough.

This header/manifold fit perfectly and mated to the exhaust pipe with ease. It is working well after several miles. We'll see if it holds up over time.
